What Buhari should look for in new IGP as Adamu retires

Most Rev. Dr. Ignatius Kaigama, Archbishop of Abuja Catholic Archdiocese, has condemned the incessant kidnapping of catholic monks and ministers of God in Nigeria.

Kaigama, in his homily on Sunday at St. Anthony’s Parish, Yangoji, Abuja, described the kidnapping of monks as molestation of the church.

He says such acts are felony, ungodly and degrading to humanity.

Kaigama, who spoke at a mass to mark Solemnity of Baptism of the Lord, mentioned it needs to be clear to the abductors that the mission of the Catholic Church was to carry excellent news to the needy and poor.

“No matter would be the motive of the abductors, financial or sheer intimidation, it needs to be clear to these engaged in such nefarious actions that the Catholic Church brings excellent news to the poor via enormous sacrifices.

“She enhances the federal government’s efforts via her selfless social, instructional and medical providers to the needy, so molesting the Church is molesting the needy.

“Regardless of the Catholic Church has and does, is for the great of all, irrespective of non secular, ethnic or political variations,” he mentioned.

He prayed for the discharge of those that are nonetheless in captivity and for the conversion of the perpetrators of the inhuman act.

“Might Christ manifest Himself to the perpetrators of such evil actions as kidnapping, rape, killings, and many others and grant them a change of coronary heart,’’ he mentioned.

Kaigama inspired Parishioners to persevere extra in religion and to not give in to despair with the happenings round them, particularly within the mild of the kidnap of their parish priest.
