Minority Chief of the Senate, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe has condemned President Muhammadu Buhari’s nomination of his media aide, Lauretta Onochie, as a Nationwide Commissioner of the Impartial Nationwide Electoral Fee (INEC).
Abaribe, who represents Abia South, described the nomination as a violation of the Structure.
He mentioned the minority caucus of the Senate is in opposition to the nomination and known as on Buhari to withdraw it.
“President Buhari, by nominating Lauretta Onochie has willfully gone in opposition to the Structure that he swore to uphold.
“Merchandise F, paragraph 14 of the Third Schedule of the 1999 Structure (as amended) forbids a card carrying member of a political celebration to be a member of INEC.
“The Minority Caucus of the Senate is in opposition to this nomination and name on Mr President to withdraw it,” Abaribe mentioned in a terse assertion in Abuja.
