Security agencies in search of 50AK-47 rifles stolen by IPOB – Rivers govt

Safety companies are in frantic search of fifty AK-47 rifles allegedly carted away by members of the Indigenous Folks of Biafra (IPOB) in Oyigbo Native Authorities space of Rivers State.

Commissioner for Info and Communications within the State, Paulinus Nsirim made the claims whereas briefing Authorities Home Correspondents in Port Harcour after the federal government eased the curfew in Oyigbo.

Rivers State Safety Council relaxed the 24-hour curfew imposed on the whole Oyigbo Native Authorities Space of the State following the killing of 10 safety operatives allegedly by members of the proscribed IPOB.

The Council agreed that the curfew would now take impact from 7pm to 6am starting from Wednesday.

However Nsirim, whereas addressing newsmen on the eased curfew defined that, “throughout the mayhem that claimed the lives of safety brokers finishing up their respectable duties in Oyigbo, 50 AK 47 rifles have been carted away.

“And because of this, safety companies within the space would proceed to embark on surveillance and search operations to get better the rifles which are actually within the unlawful possession of some individuals.

“You’ll recall that following the killing of six troopers and 4 policemen, and the destruction of court docket buildings by members of Indigenous Folks of Biafra (IPOB), the Rivers State Authorities imposed a 24 hour curfew on the whole Oyigbo Native Authorities Space on October 21, 2020.”

This disclosure comes because the State Governor, Nyesom Wike introduced the arrest of two kingpins of IPOB in Oyigbo by safety operatives.
