The Commissioner of Police in Imo State, Mr Nasiru Mohammed, has confirmed that some officers of the state command have been arrested for allegedly assaulting 5 civilians in Orlu.
The commissioner confirmed the arrest in an announcement issued on Thursday by the spokesman of the command, SP Orlando Ikeokwu.
Mohammed mentioned these arrested had been noticed in a viral video committing the act at Banana Junction in Orlu.
He revealed that disciplinary motion might be taken in opposition to the officers for unprofessional misconduct.
He suggested the general public to report any unprofessional conduct of officers of the command to the Assistant Commissioner of Police, XSquad, Public Compliant Bureau or to the workplace of the Commissioner of Police.
Mohammed condemned the “inhuman therapy and assault on the yet-to-be recognized individuals within the viral video.”
In accordance with him, the officers had been seen forcing 5 individuals to lie on the ground, flogging them within the course of, which is unethical, unprofessional and unacceptable.
“The command, whereas condemning the motion, needs to tell most people that the officers have been recognized, arrested and disciplinary motion commenced,” he added.
