The Impartial Nationwide Electoral Fee (INEC), on Friday, launched the ultimate record of candidates for the forthcoming governorship election in Ondo State.
The governorship election slated for October 10, 2020.
Festus Okoye, the Nationwide Commissioner and Chairman, Data and Voter Schooling Committee, in an announcement, in Abuja, mentioned that 4 political events that earlier made legitimate nominations have substituted their candidates.
He disclosed that the electoral umpire held its weekly common assembly on Thursday the place the Ondo governorship election was deliberated upon.
Okoye recalled that the Fee had earlier printed the provisional record of candidates for the election comprising 17 political events.
“In accordance with part 35 of the Electoral Act, 2010 (as amended) and as supplied within the Timetable and Schedule of Actions launched on sixth February 2020, withdrawal and substitution of candidates ended at 6.00pm on 18th August 2020,” the commissioner mentioned.
He mentioned “the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Motion Democratic Get together (ADP) and the Individuals’s Democratic Get together (PDP) withdrew and substituted their Deputy Governorship candidates whereas the Zenith Labour Get together (ZLP) substituted each its Governorship and Deputy Governorship candidates.
“Consequently, the Fee has printed the ultimate record of nominated candidates in our State and Native Authorities workplaces in Ondo State. The record can also be out there on our web site and social media platforms.
“Political events, candidates within the election and members of the general public are suggested to test the ultimate record of candidates and be guided accordingly.”
