No environmental levy in Imo, Commissioner cautions residents

The Imo State authorities has cautioned residents to watch out for some unscrupulous individuals who’re going about extorting cash from members of the general public.
The state commissioner for petroleum and surroundings, Dr. Ikechukwu Njoku gave the warning in a launch issued in Owerri by his particular assistant on media and public affairs, Evangelist Vivid Eluagu.
In accordance with the discharge, the extortionists have been working within the guise of ‘environmental levy’, claiming that they’re officers of the ministry of petroleum and surroundings.
The discharge reads, “It has come to the data of the Hon Commissioner for Petroleum and Surroundings, Dr Ikechukwu Njoku that some unscrupulous parts have been going about extorting cash from members of the general public within the guise of environmental levy, which they declare in response to confirmed experiences, emanated from the Ministry of Petroleum and Surroundings.

“We want to state categorically that such individuals don’t symbolize the Ministry of Petroleum and Surroundings however slightly, brokers of retrogression who’ve vowed to sabotage the efforts of the federal government in its effort to constructing a state each Imolite shall be pleased with.”
The commissioner disclosed that already, the legislation enforcement companies have been directed to arrest anybody who engages within the above illicit act with a view to function deterrent to others.
