The Nigerian Military have arrested eight suspected kidnappers, sea pirates and armed robbers together with a college graduate in Cross River State.
The Commander, Sector 4 Land Part Operation Delta Protected (OPDS) Col. Omubo Idoniboye-Obu, disclosed this at Eburutu Cantonment in Calabar on Monday, November 9, whereas the handing over the suspects to the State Police Command.
Idoniboye-Obu stated the suspects have been arrested throughout sequence of operations carried out by the sector between October 10 and 16, 2020. Investigations revealed that the suspects have been concerned in kidnapping and armed theft.
“Following the upsurge of kidnapping, sea piracy and theft incidents in Calabar and environs, sector 4, OPDS collaborated with different safety businesses with a view to checkmate the actions of criminals,” he said.
Among the suspects embody Ita Oku Ndiyo (a.ka Commander Musty), a 27-year- previous graduate of Cross River College of Expertise, CRUTECH and chief of a infamous four-man prison gang comprising of Bassey Effiom Okon, 27 ( a.ok.a Eteka Bulldog ) an ex-convict who was declared needed by the state authorities, Atuo Kenneth Martins, 32, an indigene of Nsufang Etung LGA of the state and Idang Anwakang,33 (a.ok.a Tallest)
“They robbed one Mr. Jan and Mr. Bobby (Cameroonians) on October 9, and 20, in Ikom LGA of the state and dispossessed them the sum of N4million naira and 181,000 CFA France,” he stated.
Others arrested for theft embody Ajom Daniel ( a.ok.a Unhealthy Drug) , Godwin Ikono Nyong,34, (a.ok.a German Machine) and 19-year-old Moses Edem (a.ok.a Palo )
Col. Idoniboye –Obu said that among the suspects are ex-convicts whereas others have been on the needed record of the state safety businesses within the state.
The sum of N2, 192, 500. 181,000 CFA Franc, 30 tons Cement Mixer Truck, two X pump motion weapons, one X Barretta pistol, ten X cartridges and 6 X 9mm Ammo have been recovered from the suspects.
He stated, as required by the Harmonised Commonplace Working Process, the Sector formally arms over the suspects to the Commissioner of Police Cross River State Command whereas the truck and displays go to the Financial and Monetary Crimes Fee.
