Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State, on Thursday launched 25 prisoners and lowered the sentence for 9 others.
The governor disclosed this in his message to mark Nigeria’s sixtieth Independence anniversary, on Thursday in Kaduna.
“As we mark the diamond jubilee of our nation’s freedom, it’s customary that we prolong a gesture of mercy to some individuals which can be serving their sentence in prisons inside Kaduna State.
“I’ve exercised powers vested by Part 212 of the Structure and accepted the suggestions of the Advisory Council on Prerogative of Mercy to commute the sentences of 34 convicts.
“Primarily based on this determination, 25 convicts are to be launched, whereas others have had their sentences lowered, together with committal of loss of life sentences for some convicted armed robbers to life imprisonment.”
El-Rufai harassed the dedication of his authorities to make sure peace and concord in varied communities.
