Universities that Accept Low JAMB Score
Low JAMB score has always been a concern to candidates seeking for admission into different Universities, polytechnics, and college of education in Nigeria. And many do ask how they can gain admission with low JAMB score.
Some of the questions students have asked whenever they have low JAMB score are listed below
- Universities that Accept low jamb score for medicine
- Schools that accept low jamb score
- Federal universities that accept low jamb score
- Top universities that accept low jamb score
What to Do When your JAMB Score is Low
This is a guide for what to do when your JAMB score is below 180. I will now list what to do when you scored below 150 below in JAMB.
(1) Check for the list of universities that accept low JAMB score
The first step is to check the previous JAMB cut-off mark for each University and that will give you a clue to Universities and Polytechnics that accept low JAMB score. Click here to check the latest JAMB cut-off mark for each University.
(2) Go for a change of course/institution
My friend that was offered admission in 2002 makes use of the opportunity provided by JAMB which is a change of course/institution. He changed from UNIPORT to LAUTECH once he discovered that LAUTECH accepts below 190 for some courses. Change of course/institution is a saving grace once you have discovered that your JAMB score is below the cut-off mark of your school. It is a wise decision to make to save your score. Although you may need to opt for course/institution that you don’t really like. For example, someone that score 190 and wanted to study medicine may have to change his or her course to biology in a university that accept below 180 in JAMB. This can even make you change to a polytechnic against the university you chose initially.
(3) Prepare well for post-UTME
This only comes to play when you have met the cut-off mark. Meeting the cut-off mark doesn’t equate to offer of admission, you have to have a good Post UTME score to make your chance brighter. Many institutions use JAMB score + post-UTME score + O’ level result to determine who they offer admission. So you must start preparing now.

What To Do When School Gave Admission But JAMB Did Not
I had heard some candidates ask about what to do when their school gave them admission, but JAMB did not. And this issue has made some of them think about whether school admission is different from JAMB admission. There is no difference between the admission given by your institution, and the one JAMB will give you. However, there is a process your institution must follow before JAMB can validate your admission.
JAMB has been saddled with the responsibility to place suitably qualified candidates in the tertiary institutions after having taken into account:
There may be a problem from you, the school, or JAMB that can lead to your school giving you admission, and JAMB did not or JAMB offering admission into another institution.
Before I provide you with the solution, I will explain how your school works with JAMB to validate your admission.
The first thing is that your institution will forward the recommended list to the JAMB desk officer. The Desk officer processes the recommended list and generates a list of provisional admissions. The desk officer will ensure all the admitted candidates submitted by the school meet all the O’level requirements advertised on the JAMB brochure. Lastly, JAMB contacts candidates to accept or decline admission.
Action To Take When Your School Gave You Admission But JAMB Did Not
(1) Upload your O’level result
O’level results uploading is now a requirement; candidates must upload their results before they can be considered. O’level results will be verified before matriculation. So when you see that you haven’t been admitted despite your successful admission status on your school portal, go and upload your O’level result again.
(2) Be Patient
JAMB uploads the admission list sent from your school in batches on their portal. Perhaps it is yet your batch turn, and that triggers admission in progress or not yet admitted; wait for one to two weeks before you take further action.
(3) Contact Your School Admission Office
When you are in a situation like this, it is good to contact your school admission officer for a way out. If the problem is from the school or JAMB, they find a solution to it.
