Lagos-Ogun trains service resumes, fares increased

The Nigerian Railway Company (NRC) says Lagos-Ogun Mass Transit Practice Providers operations will resume subsequent Monday.

Operations have been suspended in March after the outbreak of coronavirus.

Jerry Oche, NRC Lagos District Supervisor, made the announcement in a press release on Thursday.

“NRC is about to renew its Mass Transit Practice Providers on Monday, September 14, 2020. The resumption is coming after a obligatory shutdown of prepare operations on March 23, 2020 as a result of novel coronavirus outbreak.”

He mentioned in keeping with Nigeria Centre for Illness Management (NCDC) tips for the reopening of rail transportation, adjustments have been made.

“Our MTTS would now price N460 flat per journey and the trains would now not cease at some stations.”

Prior to now, fares between Iddo in Lagos and Ijoko/Kajola in Ogun was N230 per journey.

Trains originating from Ijoko will solely cease at Ebute Metta Junction and Iddo stations, whereas return trains originating from Iddo would terminate at Ijoko solely.

Trains from Iddo used to cease at Ebute Metta, Yaba, Mushin, Oshodi, Sogunle, Agege, Iju, Agbado, Itoki, Opo Suuru, Ijoko and terminated at Kajola.

“It’s to be famous that the MTT prepare would depart Ijoko by 6.30 am and Iddo by 17.30 pm. In strict adherence to NCDC’s tips for public engagement, no passengers could be allowed to board the prepare and not using a face masks and hand sanitiser.”

On social distancing measures, NRC acknowledged that seats marked ‘X’ are NOT to be sit on.

Additionally, standing or hanging on the prepare is not going to be allowed.
