Kano State Hisbah Board has arrested 648 suspected beggars for allegedly violating the ban of road begging.
They have been nabbed from February 2020 until date.
The board’s spokesman, Lawan Ibrahim, spoke to the Information Company of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday.
The suspects have been arrested on the Bata Space, Murtala Mohammed approach, Nasarawa Hospital, Railway Station and Yahuza Suya junction.
Ibrahim disclosed that individuals apprehended have been 416 feminine and 232 male.
The official warned that the board will proceed to arrest beggars who refuse to abide by the regulation.
“We are going to make Kano streets beggar-free. These arrested have been screened and first-time offenders will likely be handed over to their kin.”
Ibrahim added that others who usually are not first-time offenders could be charged to courtroom.
