Kaduna: Victims of kidnap paid over N900m ransom in 2020 – SOKAPU

The Southern Kaduna Folks’s Union (SOKAPU) on Monday, lamented that indigenes have gotten impoverished from paying ransom to abductors throughout the 12 native authorities areas of Kaduna State the place there are locals.

Talking at a press briefing on Monday in Kaduna, SOKAPU President, Honourable Jonathan Asake defined that neighborhood members have paid ransoms to the tune of N900m.

“Our poor weak individuals paid over N900m as ransom to criminals in 2020. It is a minimal and conservative estimate. Those now we have are people who have reported to us,” SOKAPU President, Honourable Jonathan Asake mentioned.

He mentioned at a specific kidnapping level, over N60m was paid inside a spate of two months.

“There’s a specific level between Kafanchan and Kwoi which got here up lately and over N60m was paid there in lower than two months.

“Our persons are being impoverished each day by kidnapping and abductions,” he confused.

SOKAPU described Kaduna State because the nation’s capital for kidnapping and abduction, with rising circumstances every day.
