I won’t apologise to Nigerians for 2010 World Cup goal miss against South Korea – Yakubu Aiyegbeni

Former Tremendous Eagles striker, Yakubu Aiyegbeni, has vowed that he received’t apologise to Nigerians over the open aim he missed throughout the 2010 FIFA World Cup Group B match between Nigeria and South Korea in South Africa.

Aiyegbeni missed an outstanding likelihood to place Nigeria forward on the must-win group tie at Durban Stadium on June 22, 2010.

Many Nigerians have been indignant with the previous Everton and Portsmouth star over the miss.

However Aiyebeni is now saying that he can’t apologise to Nigerians as a result of it wasn’t a deliberate miss.

Talking on the event after over a decade, Aiyebeni instructed NationTV on Wednesday: “I received’t apologise in any respect. Why ought to I? I’ve scored so many targets for Nigeria too. I’ve sacrificed quite a bit for the nation. Did anybody apologise to me?

“I can’t apologise as a result of it was not a deliberate miss. I severely wished to attain.

Ayegbeni performed for various golf equipment in Europe, together with Maccabi Haifa, Portsmouth, Middlesbrough and Everton.

The 38-year-old retired from soccer in 2017.
