Group condemns Aguleri, Umuleri crisis, task traditional rulers on peace

Anambra Civil Society Community (ACSONET) a platform for Residents and Non-State Actors have condemned the disaster between Aguleri and Umueri Communities each in Anambra East LGA of the State.

Aguleri and Umuleri on Saturday resumed hostilities over a disputed plot of land.

Each communities have between 1999 and 2001 engaged in a fierce warfare that claimed human lives and properties.

In an announcement by the Chairman, Prince Chris Azor, ASCONET implored indigenes of the 2 communities to eschew all types of violence and pursue a peace possibility in direction of settling their grievances and variations.

The assertion reminded each communities of their agelong ties of affinity and brotherhood whereas calling on their conventional rulers and leaders to convene peacebuilding and battle decision dialogue conferences that might engender sustainable peaceable coexistence amongst them.
