Sequel to a tanker accident that claimed two lives on Kara bridge, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, on Sunday, the Federal Ministry of Works has stated the highway will probably be shut for integrity assessments, The PUNCH reviews.
A letter addressed to the Lagos State Authorities and signed by the Deputy Director, Highways, Federal Ministry of Works, Ok.Y. Ibrahim, solicited the help of the state for the success of the job.
Ibrahim stated the contractor dealing with that part of the expressway requested that the bridge be shut from Friday to Sunday so as to confirm the bridge’s “serviceability state after the fireplace incident”.
“We now request the help of the Lagos State Authorities when it comes to dealing with the anticipated excessive visitors quantity which may be generated alongside the axis in the course of the work and likewise to assist evacuate the wreckage of the accident nonetheless on website,” the letter stated.
