The Federal Authorities yesterday permitted initiatives in two memoranda price above N10.5 billion for the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS).
The initiatives embody cargo scanners for the Onne and Port Harcourt ports in Rivers State, and Tin Can Island Port in Lagos State, in addition to 10 assorted assault and provider boats.
Minister of Finance, Price range and Nationwide Planning, Mrs Zainab Ahmed, stated after the Federal Govt Council (FEC) assembly that the contract for the three cargo scanners, which had already been awarded at $18.12 million and N3.255 billion for the overseas and native elements, was a revision of an earlier approval from 2018.
She additionally introduced the FEC’s approval for the acquisition of 5 assault boats and 5 patrol boats for the Customs Service.
“We introduced two memos. The primary memo was sought council’s approval for the revision of a contract that was beforehand permitted by the council in 2018 for the provision and set up of three numbers Rapsican Cellular Cargo Scanner.
“These are giant measurement cargo scanners that can be positioned in Onne Port, Port Harcourt Port and Tin Can Port. They’re scanners that may drive containers by. That can fasten inspection,” she stated.
