Ekiti court remands two farmers for allegedly killing colleague

An Ado-Ekiti Magistrates’ Court docket on Tuesday ordered the remand of two farmers, Akomolafe Ayodeji, 38 and Temitope Alabi, 28, in a correctional centre over alleged killing of a person in his farm.

DAILY POST stories that the Police Prosecutor, Mr Caleb Leranmo advised the Court docket that the defendants dedicated the offence on Oct. 9 at Oye-Ekiti.

In line with him, the defendants on the mentioned date, unlawfully killed one Mathew Maleek, 62, whereas engaged on his farm.

He added that the defendants had earlier had a disagreement with the deceased two days earlier than his demise over unlawfully felling of bushes on his farm and was discovered lifeless on the third day in his farm.

Leranmo mentioned that the offence is punishable Beneath Part 324 and 319 (1) of the Felony Code, Cap. C 16, Legal guidelines of Ekiti State, 2012.

He mentioned he had forwarded their case information to the Directorate of Public Prosecution, DPP, for authorized recommendation.

Counsel to the defendants, Mr Yinka Opaleke who had earlier searched for a date of adjournment pending the end result of the recommendation from DPP, urged the court docket to select an early date to listen to the matter.

Chief Justice of the Peace, Mr Abdulhamid Lawal consequently ordered that the defendants be remanded in Correctional Centre until the end result of the authorized recommendation from DPP’s workplace.

He later adjourned the case to Dec. 19 for additional listening to.
