Girls of Idumuje-Ugboko neighborhood below Aniocha North Native Authorities Space of Delta State on Wednesday protested in opposition to Nigerian billionaire and former federal lawmakers, Ned Nwoko, accusing him of tormenting indigenes and incarcerating their husbands, relations and sons.

Nwoko is being accused of forcefully taking up a number of hectares of land belonging to members of the neighborhood.

The protesting girls of varied ages below the umbrella of Involved Girls of Idumuje-Ugboko, have been armed with placards bearing totally different inscriptions whereas storming the Delta State Authorities Home, Asaba, the capital, to register their grievances.

The ladies, who accused Nwoko of selling the insecurity within the city, disclosed that their husbands, sons and relations have been being incarcerated in Abuja on the orders of the Nigerian billionaire.

The protesting girls additionally accused the native authorities council chairman of working for Nwoko by “legitimising illegality via issuance of customary rights of occupancy on lands below customary dispute and authorized litigation”.

In a petition to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, girls of the neighborhood alleged that Nwoko forcefully dispossessed farmers of their ancestral land for personal business ventures.

Addressing the 2 teams of ladies individually, the state’s Commissioner for Girls Affairs, Social and Neighborhood Improvement, Florence Alatan, assured them that their grievances can be addressed by the state authorities in order to discover a lasting answer to all points raised.
