The Cross River State Police Command has pissed off the efforts of some alleged militants in bringing their protest from Akpabuyo/Bakassi native authorities areas of the state into Calabar, the state capital.
The militants are protesting the alleged levity with which the state authorities was treating them because the “give up” of their arms in November 2018.
The suspected militants deliberate a march to Calabar from their location in Esighi in Bakassi native authorities space of the state, however the state Police Command dispatched officers to cordon them off.
Chatting with newsmen on telephone on Thursday, the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Abdulkadir Jimoh stated the militants had been aiming at taking their protest to the town of Calabar and Police received the data and had to make sure that the protest doesn’t happen.
“We received info that the militants had been going to protest over non-payment of their allowances and we needed to take proactive measures to stop the break-down of regulation and order. My males are on the road to make sure that the state is protected for everyone,” the Commissioner stated.
He however appealed to the state authorities to help the police with operational vans to allow the Police deal with crime within the state.
“We now have been capable of cut back crime and criminality within the state since I resumed workplace, however we want extra operational automobiles to allow my males to comb all nooks and crannies of the state,” he stated.
