An Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Courtroom sitting at Ibadan on Thursday remanded one Mustafa Afeez, 27, on the Agodi Correctional Centre, Ibadan, for the alleged homicide of a two and half 12 months’s outdated woman in Ibadan.
The Prosecutor, Sgt. Olalekan Adegbite arraigned the defendant, who resides on the Olodo space in Ibadan, on a cost of homicide.
Adegbite whereas presenting the case informed the courtroom that the defendant had on July 30, allegedly unlawfully brought on the dying of a minor.
“Mustapha was alleged to have thrown her into the Omi river, Ahoyaya space, Olodo, in Ibadan.
“The kid was alleged to have been lacking within the space earlier than her physique was discovered within the river the subsequent day,’’ Adegbite mentioned.
He mentioned the offence was dedicated on July 30, at about 9 p.m. at Ahoyaya space, Olodo, Ibadan.
In response to him, the offence contravened Part 316 and is punishable beneath Part 319 of the Legal Code, Cap. 38, Vol. II, Legal guidelines of Oyo State, 2000.
Nonetheless, the Justice of the Peace, Mrs. Serifat Adesina, who refused to take the plea of the defendant, ordered his remand on the Correctional Centre, pending recommendation from the Oyo State Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP)’s recommendation.
