A Magistrates’ Courtroom in Makurdi, on Tuesday, ordered that two brothers who allegedly defiled a 10-year-old woman be remanded in a correctional facility.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Ato Godwin informed the court docket that the case was reported on the Divisional police station Orokam by the complainant, Margret Okoh of Ipole Igwu Orokam, Benue, on Oct. 11, 2020.
He alleged that the brothers defiled the sufferer in her grandmother’s home.
Godwin prayed the court docket for an adjournment to allow the police full investigation into the matter.
The offence, he mentioned, contravened the provisions of sections 97 and 284 of the Penal Code Regulation of Benue 2004.
Nevertheless, Justice of the Peace Ajuma Igama, who didn’t take the plea of the brothers for need of jurisdiction, ordered the police to duplicate the case file and return identical to the Benue Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for authorized recommendation.
Igama adjourned the matter till Nov. 19, for DPP authorized recommendation, NAN stories.
