Checkpoints, roadblocks remain banned, no arms for vigilante – IGP Adamu warns

The Inspector Normal of Police, Mohammed Adamu has mentioned that it’s unlawful for vigilante teams to hold arms.

The IGP mentioned that the work of the vigilante teams is to collect intelligence and make them accessible to the police

Vigilante teams in Nigeria are at all times armed with all method of weapons, which they even use more often than not to battle crime.

However in an interview with Channels Tv on Monday, the IGP mentioned that they’re carrying unlawful arms.

He additionally maintained that each one checkpoints by way of roadblocks are banned.

“Vigilante teams are presupposed to be working with the communities, collect intelligence and move to the police.

“Vigilante teams should not supposed to hold arms…any of them that does so is carrying unlawful arms.

“Up until at the moment, checkpoints by way of roadblocks are banned. Any police officer that engages in that’s doing an unlawful obligation and if he’s caught, he would reply for it,” he mentioned.
