Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has condemned the nomination of Mrs Lauretta Onochie as a Nationwide Commissioner on the Unbiased Nationwide Electoral Fee (INEC).
Atiku, in an announcement by the Deputy Director, Media and Publicity, Remi Adebayo, the Atiku Care Basis known as on the Senator to withstand Onochie’s nomination.
He famous that Onochie’s rejection would set an instance that might strengthen the nation’s democracy.
Buhari had nominated Onochie, who’s his Private Assistant on Social Media, alongside three others as INEC Commissioner.
Faulting the nomination, the ex-Vice President stated: “The nomination of the presidential aide on new media, a venomous attacker of the opposition political events, unapologetic defender of the All Progressives Congress (APC), a card-carrying member and former senatorial candidate beneath the celebration as INEC Commissioner is a mockery of this democracy.
“We imagine as a person of integrity and custodian of the Nigerian Structure to which he swore to guard, President Muhammadu Buhari wouldn’t wish to disregard equity for nepotism and blind partisanship.
“Each Nigerian of voting age is conscious {that a} place on the non-partisan election umpire shouldn’t be given to partisan personalities like Mrs. Onochie in clear violation of our electoral legal guidelines.”
