Africa’s tenth richest man Patrice Motsepe to contest CAF presidency as Amaju Pinnick stands down

Nigeria Soccer Federation President, Amaju Pinnick has dropped out of the race to contest for the Confederation of African Soccer (CAF) presidency towards incumbent Ahmad Ahmad, citing the emergence of billionaire Patrice Motsepe within the race.

Africa’s tenth richest man, Patrice Motsepe, who can also be the proprietor of widespread African soccer membership, Mamelodi Sundowns, signalled his intention to run for the president of CAF forward of elections in March and now Pinnick has revealed he shall be supporting Motsepe within the race and await his time sooner or later.

Nevertheless, chatting with BBC Sport, Nigeria Soccer Federation chief, Amaju Pinnick has confirmed that he’s opted to not contest the presidency, as a substitute providing his help for Motsepe who he says is extra experieced.

The 58-year-old South African Motsepe has a private fortune value an estimated $2.4 billion, after making his wealth in mining.

For Motsepe to win, he must defeat each Ahmad and Jacques Anouma of Cote d’Ivoire.

Motsepe’s choice was introduced in a press convention on Monday November 9.

Although Motsepe was not current, South Africa Soccer Affiliation president Danny Jordaan revealed his backing for the Sundowns chief.

“Caf should enhance its international standing,” Jordaan instructed journalists, as per BBC Sport. “He’s probably the most acceptable individual we may supply for the management of Caf.”

Pinnick chatting with BBC Sport Africa on Monday revealed why he gained’t be contesting within the forthcoming elections.

“He has extra superior qualities than me,”

“It’s not about me, it’s about African soccer.

“In case you have somebody with superior qualities, it’s a must to study from him and queue behind him and wait in your time.”
