Twenty-nine suspects detained on the Central Police Station (CPS) in Umuahia, the Abia State capital, have escaped.
The suspects have been stated to have fled Saturday evening.
Twenty of them have been rearrested, whereas 9 are unaccounted for, The Nation discovered.
It was gathered that the suspects fled after overpowering the cell guard.
Police spokesman Geoffrey Ogbonna confirmed the incident, urging members of the general public to report back to the closest police station ought to the see the escapees.
