Just In! Acting EFCC Chariman, Magu Arrives Senate For Confirmation

Ibrahim Magu, acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has arrived at the national assembly for his confirmation screening.

Senate President Bukola Saraki had announced Magu’s screening on Tuesday.

In December, the senate rejected Magu’s nomination, citing a report by the Department of State Services (DSS).

The anti-graft czar was accused of corruption ‎and “gross violation of human rights”. He was also alleged to be in possession “of undeclared pieces of property.”

He has since denied all the allegations.

President Muhammadu Buhari renominated him in January.

Under Magu, the anti-corruption war has recieved a boost, and many recovery made — the latest being the interception of a cash of N49 million hidden in five sacks at the Kaduna international airport.

But critics of the current administration believe that the commission has turned a blind eye to those in the good books of Buhari.

Magu was appointed in November 2015, following the sack of Ibrahim Lamorde.
